Thought I’d start a topic to introduce whomever is here interested in ISOBlue. Myself and Yang Wang are the leads at Purdue working on ISOBlue. Wanted to post a message here that we’re available and watching for questions!

Also, my only means of understanding Dutch is via Google Translate, so English helps :).

Hi all! We are planning the hackathon event in August: 29th and 30th. If it is possible we could compress to one day, but it will take place on a farm, so it’s gonna be pretty awesome and pleasant to spend some time there. At the particular farm they have been doing a CAN Bus pilot: (in Dutch)


Hi all! moving forward I will use IsoBlue Introductions to share some relevant initiatives, background info and context. This particular item describes a serious effort by a large consortium within the EU financed “Internet of Food 2020” project, on machine data sharing! We from want to learn and to contribute how we can make it possible that our clients benifit form the information we can collect from our electric tractor.
Multi Tool Trac builds the first electric tractor. It has a complete electric powertrain built with reliable components, a unique on-the-fly track width adjustment and five positions for all common tools and agricultural equipment. A modern 6-cylinder diesel engine with 160 kW (210 Hp) is used as range extender. We build the first two already and plan now no 3 till 8. We want to make connection from all our sensors tot the cloud and from their to the farmer. There is still a lot to determine.

Hello Farm Hackers,

Though growing up on a farm I have no real background in agriculture nor engineering, but I am very much interested in improving the way food is produced with respect to nature. I run two companies; Mirage for making commercial films and animations, and Earth Kweek with which I grow green roof plants like sedum but also herbs and perennial vegetables. I like to think in possibilities, so at the ISOBlue Hackaton I hope to contribute some creative insights and useful concepts.

I will be joining the Hackaton together with my father Jan, a farmer growing crops like potatoes, onions, sugarbeets and grain. He is a veteran when it comes to precision agriculture and is currently working together with the Polish company The aim of Farm24 is to offer handsfree registration of agricultural activities. Their motto is ‘from the farmer, for the farmer’ meaning the farmers stay in control of their own data. The registration can be done by different sensors, or hopefully in the future also via ISOBus. The information is sent to the database through GSM where the data and analyses can be viewed.

Last year we learned about Isoblue which was then version 1.0. We’ve also had contact with Aaron and Yang Wang about still using the old beagleboard, possibly for the 2.0 version. This board we currently use to hopefully read basic tractor CANBus information like speed, rpm, hitch height etc.

We’re looking forward to this weekend and learning new things together.

My name is Derk Gesink. I have a farm in the north part of the Netherlands. Together with 4 other farmers we are active in precisionfarming under the name of aGroFuture. We have experiencee on collecting data from yield monitors, drones and Nir sensors. We would like to collect data from our tractors so we can measure resistence on the hitcharm. Combined with our already present gps position we could make a map of the field so that we can have an indication on soilcompaction.

Hello, my name is Pieter van Maldegem. Together with my wife Wiena, we have a farm in Vierhuizen, in the North of the Netherlands. We joined several projects on precision farming.
Lately we started “aGroFuture” together with 3 farmers and a agronomist. Goal of aGroFuture is to use precision farming to reduce environmental inmpact and to improve product-quality, espescially for the potato-crop.
For this purpose we invest in varios sensors : Multi spectral sensors on the sprayer to measure NDVI, Multi-spectral camara(Micasense) on our Drone, to image our crops, Yield sensors on both our Wheat harvester(Combine N-H) as wel on our potato Harverster.
