Who is who / Introductions: Who is Who at the Big Data for Bees Hackathon

Welcome at the BigData4Bees forum! On the 14th and 15th of December, at the Campus of the Jheronimus Academy of Data Science, we will be delving into Big Data and Bees with teams committed to building data driven solutions using big data technologies to help save the bees. The 30 hour hackathon is part of the “National Bee Strategy”.

We will use the forum to communicate on hackathon challenges and relevant documentation. It allows us to work openly and collaboratively, even tapping into knowledge and creativity of people that want to support the effort remotely.

Partly as preparation for the hackathon there were two workshops. One with experts (report) and one with partners of the National Bee strategy. An overview of the presentations that were given to kick start the second workshop:

  1. The workshop overview [PDF] (including the Naturalis pitch for the hackathon)

  2. An introduction into Big Data [PDF] by data science bureau Landscape

  3. An introduction into Hackathons [PDF] by FarmHack

  4. The Herbee pitch [PDF] on biodiversity, agriculture and a dashboard for farmers

  5. The BirdsAI pitch [PDF] on earth monitoring for compliance, impact and risk assessment
